Composite step edge is a nosing profile fitted to the front of deck steps for a safe, finished look. Also called deck step nosing, it covers the exposed board edge on each tread and gives a consistent woodgrain finish that matches your composite decking — without painting or treating timber.
Step edge is used on decking step treads and transitions — for example from a raised deck down to the patio, or on garden decking steps between levels. Composite decking step edge protects the front of each step from wear and moisture while making the edge more visible for safer footing.
Step edge is purpose-made nosing for step treads — shaped to cap the front face of a step. L-trim is general edging for board ends and detail work. Most installs use step edge on stairs and L-trim on horizontal board edges and corners.
